What do doctors say who are experienced diagnosing and treating Wilson's Syndrome?

Who do you trust?

The physicians most knowledgeable about Wilson's Syndrome and its treatment the ones who actually evaluate patients against the diagnostic standards and treat them when it appears their patient's meet the criteria. Does the diagnosis fit? Do the treatment options relieve symptoms? These physicians have the actual clinical data upon which to draw conclusions. Other doctors may have opinions about Wilson's Syndrome, but do they have clinical experience on which to base their opinions? In the absence of published research, those who diagnosis and successfully relieve patient's symptoms have the most to offer.

Doctors comments based on first-hand experience

The following statements are taken from written testimonials given to Dr. Denis Wilson and reprinted in his books Wilson's Temperature Syndrome, The Doctor's Manual for Wilson's Temperature Syndrome and on his website.

I have found that there are patients with Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome everywhere. I have found them in my own family practice that I was not previously aware of. I have known for many years that there was a patient with all the symptoms of hypothyroidism with normal blood tests. I could never explain it until Dr. Wilson's wonderful discovery. It now makes so much sense to me. (this quote was made after Dr. Resseger's experience with more than 500 patients). Dr. Charles Resseger, D.O. past president of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine.

Around 85 to 90% of the patients that I treat for Wilson's Temperature Syndrome respond to the treatment, to some degree (this quote was made after experience with more than 600 patients) Stephen L. Leighton, M.D., Winston-Salem, NC

I have been tracking my patients' temperatures, and have not had one patient whose temperature did not increase with the use of [the herbal supplements]. Dr. Alex McLellan, Halifax, Nova Scotia

90 to 100% of patients I treat for Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome improve. When there aren't a lot of complicating factors patients are amazed because it is wonderful. It just explains 17 years of misery. Dr. Ian Nesbitt, ND Billings, MT

I have treated hundreds and hundreds of patients who have normal thyroid blood tests and low temperatures, and it is my impression, that without thyroid supplementation as outlined by Dr. Wilson, most of them would have remained ill for years. Neil Nathan, M.D.

I was attracted to investigate Wilson's Temperature Syndrome and therapy with time release T3 because of the stories a trusted colleague in Colorado Springs kept telling me. He even suggested it might be beneficial in treating my own Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Because of classic hypothyroid symptoms, I had had numerous thyroid tests performed, all of which had been normal. When indeed it was a crucial key in my own recovery, I started using it with my patients. Now 8 1/2 years later it is an integral part of my practice. Dr. Sandra Denton, M.D., Anchorage, AK

The alternative medicine community for some time has felt there may be better ways of using thyroid hormone. And not being constrained by double-blind, placebo-controlled, prospective studies they go ahead and help patients using their intuition and common sense. We endocrinologist realize that there may be better ways of using thyroid hormone and we're still looking for those ways and we're probably going to find some answer in what you guys have been doing all along Endocrinologist, Anchorage Alaska

If you have patients that you haven't been able to help with other treatments in any other way and you'd like to know of something you can try that has a good chance of helping then I'd recommend that you read the doctors manual for Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. However you must be ahead of the curve. If you're the kind of doctor that must wait for ten years until everything is spelled out in the medical literature before being willing to try something that makes sense and that may help your patients then this may not be for you. Timothy Smith, M.D. Sebastopol, CA

Clearly there are people who benefit both emotionally, physically and metabolically from T3 even though it has been shown clearly and unequivocally that they do not have a problem with diminished production of thyroid (T4) hormone. There is a body of literature and experience outside of Wilson that supports the use of T3 in euthyroid (normal blood test) patients, namely that of Gynecologists and Psychiatrists. They will tend to be the greatest supporters because they've done it, and there's nothing like doing it to see it. Endocrinologist, Los Angeles, Ca
